In this class, we learned about some media majors first, and then mainly took photos of our shoes.
I actually struggled for a long time with how to photograph it, and I didn’t want to photograph it in detail as most people do because the shoe was inspired by a costume in a performance art , so I thought I should express some emotion.
In the original performance art, the performers walk through the streets in costume and tumble down the stairs of the museum. The former one was a bit difficult to achieve, so I decided to choose the latter one. I shot stop-motion animation on the stairs in the building, about 80 photos, recording the process of my shoes rolling down the stairs one by one. It was exhausting because I had to run down one flight of stairs with my shoes so as not to get the camera on me, and then I had to run back, which caused me to run up and down the stairs quite a few times which was really exhausting.
Because I wanted to do it quickly, the shooting process didn’t actually take a lot of time (stop-motion sounds like a time-consuming way to do it), but I had some difficulties in the editing process. I want my video style to have some cheerful elements while depressing and weird, so I have not found the right music until the end of this class, and I failed to submit my video. But I finished it as soon as I got home, and I was happy with how the video turned out.
